FOIA Request to Strayer University-Knoxville Regarding Chinese National Students on May 14, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, Knox Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Strayer University-Knoxville. The request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students, including their departmental affiliations and scholarship details.

Specifically, we have requested documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals and their respective departments. If student names are protected under privacy laws, we have asked for the total number of such students broken down by department.

Additionally, we are seeking information on scholarships awarded to these students. This includes the amount of each scholarship they receive and the identity of the grantors. We have also requested a list of recipients affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council if not already covered in our previous request.

Furthermore, we have asked for any policies or procedures that outline how the university monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of Knox Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to informing the public and holding institutions accountable, access to this information is crucial for our reporting efforts. We believe this transparency will contribute significantly to public discourse and understanding.
