The Knox County Sheriff’s Office reported on April 14 that deputies were involved in an officer-involved shooting at approximately 2:20 a.m. near Clinton Highway and I-275 North in Knoxville, Tennessee. According to the statement, deputies initiated a traffic stop when the suspect fled on foot while armed with a knife. Law enforcement officers fired shots during the encounter, striking the suspect who was found unresponsive at the scene and later transported for medical treatment by AMR. No deputies were injured.
The incident is under investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which will release further statements regarding this case.
