U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett has announced his support for the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” a reconciliation bill that aligns with President Trump’s agenda. The legislation aims to renew tax cuts, enhance border security, and modernize aviation while implementing significant mandatory spending reductions.

Congressman Burchett explained his decision: “After numerous discussions with President Trump, Speaker Johnson, and my colleagues in the House, I decided that a YES vote is the best way to help the people of East Tennessee.”

The bill seeks to make permanent several tax measures, including the Trump Tax Cuts. It introduces provisions such as No Tax on Tips, Made in America Auto Tax Breaks, and tax deductions for seniors on social security. Burchett highlighted the potential impact on families: “Without renewing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a family of four in Tennessee making $70,000 would see their taxes increase by $1,399 in 2026.”

Additionally, the legislation addresses Medicaid by targeting waste and fraud. It proposes removing deceased individuals from rolls and closing loopholes affecting illegal aliens’ access to benefits. Burchett emphasized its importance: “If you truly care about protecting and preserving Medicaid to ensure that it adequately serves the least amongst us, then you should be proud of this legislation.”
