Rep. Tim Burchett’s Press Office marked National Ag Day and announced the start of a new congressional committee meeting in a series of posts on March 24 and 25, 2026.
On March 24, the office recognized local farmers with the message: “Happy National Ag Day to all the dedicated farmers of East Tennessee, who help feed our state and our nation.”
The following day, two consecutive tweets highlighted activity from Congressman Burchett’s role as chairman: “HAPPENING NOW: DOGE Committee Chairman Tim Burchett begins his first meeting with the DOGE Subcommittee.” A subsequent post directed followers to view proceedings live: “LIVESTREAM HERE: https://t.co/1SHaVneXxQ”
Tim Burchett is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 2nd district, a position he has held since replacing Jimmy Duncan in 2019. Prior to his time in Congress, Burchett served in both chambers of Tennessee’s legislature and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Born in Knoxville in 1964, he continues to reside there.
