Speed humps being installed on neighborhood roads are part of the City's 2022 Resurfacing Project. In addition to repaving about 30 equivalent miles of City streets, crews are installing 180 speed humps in neighborhoods that requested traffic calming solutions via the Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program. The program is a collaboration between Transportation Engineering, City of Knoxville - Office of Neighborhood Empowerment and Knoxville Police Department - TN. Over the course of many months, neighborhood groups collected data and signatures and worked with the City program to determine the best way to slow traffic on their roads and make them safer for residents.
