Trevecca Nazarene University baseball (0-6) hosted Lincoln Memorial University (10-0) and fell 7-5 in game one (11 innings) of the day and fell 8-4 in game two (seven innings).
SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Railsplitters have won six consecutive games against the Trojans and lead the all-time series 7-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE:
The Trojans started strong when Josh Griffin hit a solo home run on the game's first pitch to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Josh Griffin extended the Trojan's lead in the third inning when he hit an RBI single that brought in Andru Becker to make it 2-0. Henry Mosley tallied a run in the fourth inning on a wild pitch. Lincoln Memorial responded with a solo home run in the sixth inning to get on the board and cut their deficit to 3-1. But Trevecca scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to go up 5-1. Henry Mosley scored on a David Milam sac ground out. Then Braden Reece was brought home on a Jacob Lester RBI double. Lincoln Memorial rallied in the ninth to tie the game at 5-5. In the 11th inning, Lincoln Memorial added a pair of runs to take the lead.
GAME TWO:
Game two was quiet for the first two innings, then Lincoln Memorial scored three runs in the third inning. Trevecca got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Jacob Lester scored on a Josh Griffin RBI single. However Lincoln Memorial added a pair of runs in the fourth inning and a run in the sixth to extend their lead to 6-1. The Trojans fought back with three runs in the sixth to cut it to 6-4. First, Andru Becker scored on a hit by pitch to Paxton Hughes. Then Josh Griffin scored off of a bases loaded walk. Shawn Wallwork rounded out the scoring as he reached home on a fielder's choice. But Lincoln Memorial put the game away with two more runs in the seventh.
