Tennessee men’s tennis secured two victories on March 15, defeating Alabama 4-3 and Mercer 4-0 in a doubleheader at Barksdale Stadium. Strong singles performances were key to both wins for the Volunteers.

The results are significant as they mark Tennessee’s first conference victory of the 2025-26 season and continue their streak of strong singles play, having swept singles courts multiple times this year.

In the first match against Alabama, Tennessee dropped the doubles point but rebounded in singles. Shion Itsusaki started the comeback with a straight-set win over Carlos Gimenez Perez. Jose Garcia followed with a victory on court one, while Boruch Skierkier added another point by defeating Yoshka Sborowsky. Piotr Siekanowicz clinched the match for Tennessee after coming back from a deficit in his first set to win in two sets. The final score was 4-3 in favor of Tennessee.

Against Mercer, Tennessee took control early by winning the doubles point with victories from Woodson McMillin and Skierkier on court three, and Garcia and Siekanowicz on court two. In singles play, Siekanowicz won decisively against Cameron Douthit, Dragos Cazacu added another point, and Jan Kobierski completed the sweep by defeating Alex Aldaz. The remaining matches were unfinished as Tennessee had already secured enough points for victory.

The duo of McMillin and Skierkier remained undefeated throughout Sunday’s matches, finishing first in both doubles contests. The Volunteers have now swept singles courts five times this season against non-conference opponents including Bellarmine, EKU, Chattanooga, Belmont, and Mercer.

Tennessee will conclude its five-match homestand with a doubleheader against Florida and Tennessee State on March 22.
