University of Tennessee head men’s basketball coach Rick Barnes announced on Apr. 2 the addition of Tyler Lundblade to the Volunteers roster for the upcoming season.

Lundblade, who was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year at Belmont for the 2025-26 season, will join Tennessee as a sixth-year guard with one year of eligibility remaining. His arrival is expected to strengthen Tennessee’s backcourt with his shooting ability and experience in collegiate basketball.

“We are thrilled to start our portal class with Tyler, who is both an exceptional player and an impressive young man,” Barnes said. “There is no doubt Tyler is one of the very best shooters at the college level and he proved that in one of the nation’s premier conferences. He can score in a variety of ways, whether that is a catch-and-shoot, dribble-handoff or off-the-dribble situation. Tyler has consistently been a part of winning teams and he brings a great deal of experience, as well as a tireless work ethic, with him to Rocky Top.”

Lundblade led Belmont last season with averages of 15.6 points per game while starting all 32 games for his team. He posted shooting percentages including 43 percent from the field, over 40 percent from three-point range, and led all Division I players by making more than 93 percent from the free throw line.

His career includes previous stops at SMU and TCU before transferring to Belmont where he broke school records for three-pointers made in consecutive seasons. Over his college career so far, Lundblade has averaged double-digit points per game along with high efficiency shooting marks.

Lundblade becomes Tennessee’s first transfer commitment this offseason and joins incoming high school signees Marquis Clark, Manny Green and Ralph Scott on next year’s roster.
