The University of Tennessee announced on Apr. 27 the signing of Braedan Lue to its men’s basketball team. Lue, a junior forward and member of last year’s Conference USA All-Defensive Team at Kennesaw State, will have two seasons of eligibility with the Volunteers.

Lue’s addition is significant for Tennessee as he brings defensive strength and experience to the roster. He averaged 10.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.2 assists, and 0.9 steals per game last season while starting in all but one game for Kennesaw State.

“We are pleased to welcome Braedan and his family to our basketball program. He is a superb young man with excellent character, which makes him an outstanding fit for our program,” Rick Barnes said in the announcement. “Braedan is a fast and twitchy player who possesses big-time athleticism, a sturdy frame and an elite wingspan. He is a proven winner, a great teammate and an impactful defender who is willing to play any role to help his team. Braedan is excited for the chance to compete at the highest level and he looks forward to working with Garrett Medenwald.”

During his time at Kennesaw State, Lue played in every game over two seasons and started nearly all of them. His achievements include being named Preseason All-CUSA ahead of this season after helping lead his former team to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in Division I history.

Lue also has high school accolades as a two-time Georgia High School Association Class 6A State Player of the Year and led Alexander High School to a state title as championship MVP.

Looking ahead, Lue joins five other transfers joining Tennessee for next season along with four incoming high school recruits.
