The Tennessee Volunteers will host the defending national champion LSU Tigers in a three-game Southeastern Conference baseball series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium beginning April 3.
Both teams have had slower starts than expected in conference play, with Tennessee holding a 19-10 overall record (3-6 SEC) and LSU at 20-10 (4-5 SEC). The series is seen as important for both programs as they seek to gain momentum in the league. The games are scheduled for Friday at 5:30 p.m., Saturday at 6 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., with broadcasts on SEC Network, ESPN2, and SEC Network+.
The rivalry between Tennessee and LSU has grown stronger in recent years. Since 2021, the two teams have accounted for the last three national championships and combined for five Men’s College World Series appearances. Tennessee has won eight straight home games against LSU since that year. “In recent years, the Tennessee-LSU rivalry has turned into one of the best in all of college baseball,” according to information provided by Tennessee Athletics.
This season, freshman pitcher Cam Appenzeller has stood out for Tennessee by not allowing a run in conference play across three appearances. He was instrumental during UT’s win over Missouri and continued his strong performance against Vanderbilt last weekend. Both Appenzeller and junior third baseman Henry Ford received midseason honors this week; Appenzeller was named to two midseason watch lists while Ford was included on the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List.
Fans attending games are encouraged to check the Gameday Central page for updated information regarding parking, stadium policies, entry points, promotions, and giveaways. Lindsey Nelson Stadium recently underwent renovations exceeding $100 million, now offering new amenities such as expanded seating areas, additional concessions, upgraded lighting systems, multiple elevators, new entrances and plazas, an expanded MVP Room, renovated press box facilities, and more.
