The No. 18 Tennessee women’s golf team finished fourth at the Huntington Bank Collegiate, which concluded on April 7 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas. The Lady Volunteers posted a final score of 11-under-par after recording back-to-back rounds of 281, marking their eighth top-five finish in nine tournaments this season.

This result is significant as it demonstrates the team’s consistent performance against a competitive field of 17 teams, including several nationally ranked programs. Oklahoma State won the event with a score of 25-under-par, followed by SMU and UCLA.

Sophie Christopher led Tennessee individually, finishing tied for sixth place at six-under-par. She shot a career-best round of five-under-par (67) in the final round, which ties for the 22nd lowest single-round score in program history. Christopher made six birdies and only one bogey during her final round and achieved her second-best individual collegiate finish to date.

Kyra Van Kan also contributed with a strong performance, carding a four-under-par (68) on Tuesday that included an eagle on hole No. 14 and three birdies. Van Kan ended tied for twelfth overall at four-under-par for her fifth top-15 placement this season. Freshman Kaopan Thapasit balanced three birdies with three bogeys to shoot even par in the last round and finished tied for seventeenth place at one-under overall.

Madison Messimer rounded out Tennessee’s countable scores with a two-over-par (74), closing out the tournament tied for twenty-sixth place. Other notable finishes included Sofie Engesaeth tying for sixty-second as an individual competitor and Manassanan Chotikabhukkana tying for sixty-seventh.

Looking ahead, Tennessee will compete next at the Southeastern Conference Championship held at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida from April 17-21.
