Three members of the Tennessee Volunteers and Lady Volunteers swimming and diving teams received major Southeastern Conference (SEC) awards, according to an April 15 announcement. Camille Spink was named SEC Female Swimmer of the Year, Desharne Bent-Ashmeil earned SEC Female Freshman Diver of the Year, and Bennett Greene was selected as SEC Male Diver of the Year.

These honors highlight a successful season for Tennessee’s swimming and diving program. The achievements demonstrate both individual excellence and team depth in one of college athletics’ most competitive conferences.

Spink won the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events at the SEC Championships for a second consecutive year. She set a new program record in the 50 freestyle with a time under 21 seconds. At this year’s NCAA Championships, Spink finished among the top five in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events. “Spink also helped lead four Tennessee relay teams to podium finishes at NCAAs,” according to university officials.

Greene had his strongest season yet by leading all divers in points at NCAA Championships and reaching finals in three events. He became only the tenth Tennessee diver to win conference Diver of the Year honors. Greene also found success internationally by winning gold at USA Diving Winter Nationals and silver at Canada Cup of Diving.

Bent-Ashmeil made an immediate impact as a freshman by finishing second nationally in three-meter diving—a school record—and fifth on one-meter at NCAA Championships. She is just the fourth Lady Vol to win freshman diver of the year since Rachel Rubadue in 2016.

The SEC also announced its All-SEC Teams: seven first-team honorees from Tennessee, along with several others recognized on second-team, third-team, or all-freshman lists across various disciplines.

These results reflect continued growth for Tennessee’s swimming & diving program as it prepares for future seasons.
