78 percent of applicants to The University of Tennessee-Knoxville were admitted for fall 2018

At The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, 94 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 51 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Knoxville enrolled 28,894 students in fall 2018, including 22,815 in undergraduate and 6,079 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

77 percent of undergraduates are residents of Tennessee, and 23 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (78 percent) and Black or African American (6 percent).

The school admitted 78 percent of the 20,457 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 33 percent enrolled.
