Cost of college went up for all students at Pellissippi State Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2018-19 at Pellissippi State Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Tennessee residents paid $4,276 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $96 more than the $4,180 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 287.4 percent more than residents this year, or $16,564. Their price tag grew 2.5 percent from $16,156 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Tennessee residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,216 students received grants or scholarships totaling $12.2 million and 214 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,894), 8,269 students used grants or scholarships totaling $33.9 million, and 954 students took out $4.5 million in federal student loans.
