The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Vols, Lewis Lead Through Two Rounds at Purdue Fall Invitational

The seventh-ranked Tennessee's men's golf team shot 13-under for the day and leads after two rounds of play at the Purdue Fall Invitational.

Individually, redshirt junior Bryce Lewis leads the 75-man field by five strokes after shooting 10-under for the day on Monday. Lewis will enter Tuesday's third and final round looking for his second career collegiate individual title after capturing the title at the 2021 Country Club of Birmingham Invitational.

Tennessee will enter Tuesday seeking a team title at its second straight tournament after having capture the SEC Fall Match Play Championship just under two weeks ago.

Lewis made 16 birdies in total Monday—six more than the next closest golfer. Seven of those 16 came during round two, a round in which he only bogeyed once. Lewis shot 4-under during round one and 6-under during round two.

Redshirt sophomore Cade Russell gave Tennessee a second member of the top five through two rounds, shooting 3-under over the first two rounds and coming in tied for fourth place. Russell shot 2-under in round one and 1-under in round two, improving his season total to five rounds of par or better. Tied for fourth place, Russell is on pace for his best finish as a Vol.

Just one stroke outside of the top 10 is Jake Hall, who was 1-over on Monday. Hall rebounded from a 5-over outing in round one to shoot 2-under in round two—the fourth-best round two score in the entire field. Hall is tied for 11th place entering Tuesday.

Redshirt freshman Lance Simpson gave Tennessee its final counting round during round two, shooting 2-over. Simpson is 6-over and tied for 34th place in total heading into the final round.

Freshman Caleb Surratt gave Tennessee a counting round during round one with a 1-over score before fading during round two. Surratt is tied for 44th place entering the final round.
