The conference office has announced Monday afternoon that freshman Adri Rhoda was named C-USA Freshman of the Week after her performances in Florida this past weekend. This is fourth weekly honor from conference this season.
To kick the weekend off on Friday, Rhoda led the Blue Raiders to a sweep over the Owls after leading the team with 10 kills (10-3-21) on a .333 attack percentage. Against FIU, Rhoda had her fifth match with 15 or more kills, while also tallying three service aces and four blocks. In total, she had 22.0 points for a 4.40 points per set average.
As usual, Adri controlled the service line with five aces on the week, giving her first place on the current rally scoring list for the single-season service ace record. The previous record was held by Dora Peonia who set it back in 2017 with 44. Rhoda is now at 49 and counting on the season, giving her 10th place on the all-time program list and making her one of two Blue Raiders to crack the list this century.
The Hutchinson, Minnesota native led all freshmen in conference this week in kills (25), aces (5), points (33.0), and points per set (4.13). Among freshmen, she was also second in kills per set (3.13) and aces per set (.63).
The freshman is just one of four Blue Raiders to win four or more conference-weekly honors in their career (Izabela Kozon, eight times; Ashley E. Adams, four times; Ashley Waugh, four times), doing so in just her first year on campus. She is also the only Blue Raider to earn four C-USA weekly honors and four freshman of the week honors.
