WASHINGTON, D.C., (Apr. 19, 2023) – On the latest episode of Tennessee Talks, Maya MacGuineas joined Rep. Tim Burchett (TN-02) to discuss the budget process in the United States, how the federal government can reduce spending and pay down debt, and the impact our national debt will have on future generations of Americans.

“Maya really knows her stuff when it comes to economic policy and wants what's best for our country. She doesn't care about the red versus blue stuff,” said Rep. Burchett. “She knows that if we don't do something and do it quickly, our children and grandchildren will be in serious trouble."

Maya MacGuineas is a tax, budget, and economic policy expert and serves as president for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. Maya attended Northwestern University and received her Master of Public Policy from Harvard University. Maya is a trusted resource by Republicans and Democrats alike for her expertise on responsible fiscal policy. She has testified before Congress and has been published numerous times in outlets such as the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times.
