U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett, representing Tennessee's 2nd District, has announced his support for a continuing resolution aimed at funding the federal government through September 30, 2025. The announcement follows his vote in favor of the measure.
Burchett emphasized that this marks the first instance during his tenure where significant cuts have been implemented, reducing the size of the government. "Since I've been here, this is the first time that actual cuts have been made and we have reduced the size of government," he stated. He noted that the resolution includes $14 billion in cuts to non-defense discretionary spending without affecting Medicare or Medicaid.
The congressman also highlighted his motivation for supporting the bill: "I voted to keep the government open so that President Trump, his cabinet, and my colleagues and I can continue down the path of limited government."
