WASHINGTON, D.C., (Apr. 20, 2023) – On April 20, U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (TN-02) voted in favor of H.J.Res.42, Disapproving the action of the District of Columbia Council in approving the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022.

“People are sick of our police being demonized and crime is through the roof,” said Rep. Burchett. "D.C. has a crime problem that is out of control and the city council didn't take the right approach in solving it. We need to do everything we can to help our police officers do their jobs and protect our nations capital."

This bill would overturn the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022, enacted by the Council of the District of Columbia. The bill was passed in 2020 during a wave of anti-police protests, and since then the Metropolitan Police Department has lost over 1,000 police officers and crime has skyrocketed.
