U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett from Tennessee's 2nd District has voted against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025. The bill, which authorizes $895.2 billion in defense spending, marks an increase of over $9 billion compared to the previous fiscal year.

Congressman Burchett expressed his concerns regarding the Pentagon's financial management. "It spends $9 billion more than last year's NDAA and the Pentagon just failed their seventh consecutive audit," he stated. "I'm not going to vote taxpayer money into thin air or put it into the hands of folks who can't handle it."

The FY2025 NDAA follows a trend of rising defense budgets, with the U.S. authorizing $778.4 billion in defense spending back in 2020.

For those interested in further details, the full text of the bill is available for review.
