U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett has expressed his support for Rep. Mike Johnson to continue as Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 119th Congress. In a statement released on January 3, 2025, Burchett explained his decision to vote for Johnson despite initial reservations.
"I had concerns and I prayed on it for awhile. It's a tough job, but I gave Mike my vote because I believe he's the right man at the right time. This country is in a rough spot and the American people are owed what they were promised," said Rep. Burchett.
Rep. Mike Johnson was re-elected as Speaker by a narrow margin, securing 218 votes against 215, with one member casting a vote for "other."
